My HEC Montréal e-mail account
As a new HEC Montréal student, you will automatically be assigned an e-mail address with the firstname.lastname@hec.ca format. All HEC Montréal students, faculty and employees have such an address.
IMPORTANT: All HEC Montréal-related notices will be sent to your hec.ca address only.

Checking your e-mail messages
Questions?
- Go to mailer.hec.ca
- Click « Knowing your e-mail address using your student or employee number or guest code »
- Click « Recherche »
- Your HEC Montréal e-mail address will be shown on the second line.
You must always identify yourself using:
- Your HEC Montréal student ID number (you’ll find it in your letter of admission)
- Your temporary password (first time = your date of birth in the YYMMDD format)
You can access your e-mail account in any of three ways:
- Online:
- Via Webmail
- Or by going to hec.ca and selecting « My Webmail » in the My HEC Montréal box
- Using an e-mail client (Outlook, Thunderbird, Mail…):
- Go to mailer.hec.ca
- Click « Configuring your e-mail software »
- Click « Recherche »
- Settings:
- If it’s the first time you’re installing the software, click the button that corresponds to your e-mail software’s equivalent of the « Full installation button »
- If the software is already installed, click the button that corresponds to your e-mail software’s equivalent of the « Updating server's settings »
- Follow the instructions.
- By redirecting your hec.ca e-mail to an external e-mail host (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.):
- Go to mailer.hec.ca
- Click « Setting your mailbox preferences »
- In the « Mailbox » box, type your personal e-mail address
- Click « Automatically forward your e-mail messages ».
